Nutrition can be a very complex subject, knowing the types of nutrients, what they do for our body’s and how much of these nutrients we should be consuming on a daily basis can be very difficult to grasp.
First of all it is important to understand that depending on what your personal goals are will determine how deep you need to go into nutrition.
For instance, an average day to day person looking to be fit and healthy needs a balanced diet of fats, carbohydrates, protein, calcium, vitamins, minerals etc which can be easily achieved.
A good guideline for this is the Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA) and the Reference Nutrient Intake (RNI). See More
If however your goals are to build muscle, or maybe your training for a marathon or even a particular sport then getting the right balance of each particular nutrient is highly important in order to improve strength, stamina or pace and to recover sufficiently.
This is referred to as sports nutrition
In all the foods that we eat there are many different types of nutrients and many different quantities of each them.
In order to help you understand what each common type of meat, fish, fruit, veg, dairy products and bread contain, I have included a food composition table that shows all foods and their nutritional values.
This is particularly useful when deciding on a diet balance to go for as knowing the foods that contain the nutrients you need will help you to achieve your goals. Have a look over here
